Our Practice in Amarillo, TX

Dr. Jaya M. Pathapati grew up in the Bronx and Yonkers, NY. She got her Bachelor of Science in Biology and was awarded the highest distinction in Biology at the College of Mt. St. Vincent. She received her Doctor of Optometry from the State University of NY, College of Optometry. She rotated through externships that were hospital-based and through Veteran’s Affair in NY. Following graduation, she moved to Amarillo, Texas, with her husband. She has practiced in the Panhandle for the past 21 years.

Dr. Pathapati strives to offer the best in patient care and loves a challenge, especially hard-to-fit and multifocal contact lenses. She is always looking for new ways to improve care in the office, and is passionate about using technology and education to attain the best for patients. She is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Texas Panhandle Association. She volunteers with Heal the City Amarillo and mentoring young students.

When not working, Dr. Pathapati enjoys spending time with her husband, two children, and Shih Tzu. She loves to travel, read, and paint – especially eyes!

Dr. Dalton S. Britt was raised in Clovis, New Mexico. He graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Biology with an emphasis in Pre-medicine from Eastern New Mexico University, where he also played football. Dr. Britt earned his Doctor of Optometry from the University of the Incarnate Word’s Rosenberg School of Optometry. He served his medical-based externship rotations in Amarillo and Lubbock, Texas. A week after graduation, he and his dog, Deuce, moved to Amarillo and joined the Eye Care Plus family.

Dr. Britt is dedicated to ensuring all patients have access to the best, state of the art, creatively customized eye health experience possible. He enjoys the challenge of pursuing, protecting, and maximizing each patient’s visual potential through the latest advances in optometric care and technology.

Outside the office, Dr. Britt enjoys long walks on the beach, shooting guns on his family’s land in Clovis, practicing Brazilian jiu-jitsu, reading, listening to podcasts, snowboarding, and playing with his Belgian Malinois, Deuce.

Dr. Britt is accepting new patients and is committed to taking on the responsibility of your family’s vision care.

Dr. Ronaldo Leon was raised in the Rio Grande Valley area and graduated from the University of Texas Pan American. Dr. Leon used his Bachelor’s in Biology to teach science classes in high school prior to pursuing his optometry career. He earned his Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Houston and gained experience in retinal pathology and primary eye care during his externship rotations through the VA in Harlingen and Cherokee Nation Health Outpatient Health Center in Oklahoma. He is excited to serve the panhandle area as a bilingual optometrist and utilize the latest technology to provide excellent care to his patients.

As a lover of nature, Dr. Leon enjoys tranquil outdoor activities such as hiking and stargazing or more demanding activities like rock climbing. He also spends his free time drawing and painting.

Dr. Amy Cruth was born and raised in Ulysses, KS. She received her Bachelor’s of Science in Biology at Emporia State University and her Doctor of Optometry from University of Missouri St. Louis-School of Optometry where she graduated with honors. During her last year of optometry school she went on a VOSH (Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity) trip to San Cristobal, Mexico, to provide free exams and glasses to the underserved. Dr. Cruth’s externships included private practices in the St. Louis area and the Veteran’s Affair in Kansas City. Upon graduation, she provided eye care to nursing home residents before moving to West Texas.

Dr. Cruth relocated to Canyon, TX, in 2019 after practicing in Lubbock, TX for 17 years. She provides comprehensive eye care including the diagnosis and treatment of glaucoma, post-operative care of cataract and refractive surgery, and speciality contact lenses. Dr. Cruth is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Texas Optometric Association.

In her spare time, Dr. Cruth stays busy keeping up with her kids’ sports and extracurricular activities. She looks forward to serving your family’s eye care needs.

Dr. Kyra Ferrigan, OD, an esteemed optometrist, has served Amarillo, Texas, and its environs since ’96. Born in Timmins, Canada, and raised in Massachusetts, her healthcare journey began volunteering as a candy striper, later becoming a certified nurse aide and an ophthalmic tech. With a Zoology degree from the University of Massachusetts, she obtained her Doctor of Optometry from New England College. For over two decades, Dr. Ferrigan’s dedication to exceptional eye care has earned community respect. Beyond her practice, she enjoys knitting, reading, cooking, and raising two young adults. Her commitment to superior care and compassionate service defines her pursuit of enhancing vision and enriching lives.
